Highlights

  • The collaboration aims to provide users a safe and secure option to pay for rail tickets booked via the IRCTC website.
  • PayU will now be available as a payment option under the Multiple Payment Services or MPS option on the IRCTC website at the payment stage of booking an e- ticket. 
  • Clicking on this option will enable users to make a safe and secure transaction 
  • Various payment options like internet banking, debit/credit card and e-wallet will be given.
  • PayU India processes over 6500 crores worth of digital transactions every month, and enjoys a success rate that is 10 percent higher than the industry average.

About IRCTC

  • It is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways.
  • It handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing operations of the Indian railways.
  •  It pioneered internet-based rail ticket booking through its website, as well as from the mobile phones via WiFi, GPRS or SMS. In addition to e-tickets, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation also offers I-tickets that are basically like regular tickets except that they are booked online and delivered by post.
