Anupam Kher Appointed Chairman of FTII

Anupam Kher has been appointed as the new chief of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

  • He will replace Gajendra Chauhan, whose appointment in 2015 triggered massive student protests. 
  • Kher is a critically acclaimed actor who has worked in more than 500 films.
  • Previously, he has headed the censor board and the National School of Drama in the past. 

About Film and Television Institute of India 

  • It is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India 
  • It is located in Pune.
  • It was established in 1960.
