To eliminate tuberculosis or dangerously known as T.B. and make people more aware about it, Govt. of India launches a 15-day door to door campaign across the country.

Some facts about the campaign


  • Under this campaign, the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists ) health workers and health supervisors will go door to door to give patients the complete health checkup, detect the virus and take proper necessary action against it.
  • The Medical treatment is fully free of cost until the time the patient will be cured.
  • The door-to-door campaign is expected to match the huge gap of 1.1 million T.B cases in India and give it a full-fledged program.
  • The program focused on Central health ministers target to reduce the T.B. in India by 90% by 2025 and 95% by 2030.
  • The ministry recently rolled out the daily drug regimen to combat the disease across the country in a bid to achieve the goal of eliminating tuberculosis (TB) by 2025.
  • TB incidence was reduced to 211 per lakh population in 2016, Inspite of the reduction, India topped the list of seven countries, accounting for 64 per cent of the 10.4 million new tuberculosis (TB) cases worldwide in 2016, report by WHO.

  • The disease affects lungs and is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). The disease is spread from person to person through the air and affect other parts of the body. • The disease is the second biggest killer disease worldwide next only to HIV/AIDS.
