Karnataka Government to Hold Largest B2B Event

The Karnataka government announced that Karnataka International Travel Expo (KITE) will be held from 28th February 2018.
  • It will be a three days event which will witness participation from 400 delegates from around 25 countries.
  • It will be the largest B2B event in the country. For the first time ever India will have such a big event for the tourism and travel sector.
  • The event aims to project Karnataka globally so as to attract tourists by emphasising on the state’s wildlife, historic monuments, UNESCO world heritage sites etc.
  • An overall budget of Rs 7 crore is to be spent on this event.
  • KITE would witness participation from around 100 international buyers and 250 national or domestic buyers.
  • The event will also include a blogathon which will be attended by international travel bloggers to promote Karnataka tourism.
  • There would be a separate start-up pavilion for promoting new technologies and innovations in the tourism sector.

It was formed on 1 November 1956 and was Originally known as the State of Mysore. It was renamed Karnataka in 1973. Its capital and largest city is Bangalore. The two main river systems of the state are Krishna and Kaveri (also known as Dakshin Ganga).
