  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has affiliated Chandigarh to have its own cricket team to play in BCCI tournament. Earlier, the Cricketers from Chandigarh were forced to represent Punjab or Haryana to be able to play at the national or international level, can now represent the city Chandigarh and play on its name.

  • Earth science Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has launched a new website of India Meteorological Department www.mausam.imd.gov.in on the foundation day of the Ministry of Earth Sciences on 27th July 2019, for providing all information about weather.
  • A Chinese start-up iSpace has successfully launched the country’s 1st commercial rocket named Hyperbola-1 with 2 satellites at around 1pm on 25th July 2019 from Gobi desert, China.
  • Subhash Chandra Garg who was serving as the Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance has assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Power on 26th July 2019.
  • The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) has released a report titled ‘R&D Expenditure Ecosystem’ in which it has suggested expenditure target of at least 2% of GDP for the research and development, which has remained constant at around 0.6% to 0.7% of GDP presently.
