  • Kristalina Georgieva of Bulgaria (1st person from an emerging market economy) has been appointed as the new head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She has succeeded Christine Lagarde for a five-year term from October.
  • Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta (duo) has won the IBSF World Snooker Team title which was held at Mandalay, Myanmar. The duo defeated Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon and Kritsanut Lertsattayathor of Thailand in the Semi-final.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with others world leaders also inaugurated the Gandhi Solar Park at the UN headquarters (New York) and released a commemorative stamp issued by the UN on the occasion of Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary.

  • 1st India-Caribbean leaders’ summit was held at New York between PM Modi and the Caribbean Community, in which India announced 1. 14 million US dollar grant for community development projects in the Caricom 2. 150 million line of credit for solar, renewable energy and climate change related projects.
  • 9th India-China Financial Dialogue was held in New Delhi that aims to promote cooperation in the financial sector between the two countries. The next round of the Dialogue will be held in China.
  • International Association of Athletic Federations, IAAF, honoured PT Usha at Doha with a Veteran Pin in recognition of her contribution to the growth of the sport.
